More Baseball...

We held an unofficial practice this afternoon before tomorrow's conference games against Brethren...about two hours of hitting and fielding. Quite productive I think but it got chilly again after a warm early afternoon...
We're supposed to get some rain overnight but we should be green and go for the 4:00 contest.
Megamind, now; The Adjustment Bureau and Despicable Me later. Kitty Galore earlier and we have a barncat that just had kittens that looks just like Catherine so I call her Catherine.

Dogs and Cats: The Revenge of Kitty Galore "Feline intelligence, huh? What's 8 times 8?"

Glorious Sunday!!

Thank You, LORD, for this day! Thank You for the sunshine, the birds singing, the warmer temperatures; and thank You for calling us into Your kingdom. Thank You for the passion of the Christ, and for His resurrection! Thank You for Tiger pitchers who throw strikes and for Tiger batters who hit the ball hard. And thank You especially for bringing Moni and I together, and for blessing each day of our marriage through these 16 years. We love You, too.

...referring to my most recent post: Yes! and his name is Drew Smyly - the pride af Maumelle, Arkansas! 4 Games started so far this year; he's given up only 3 earned runs, walked only 8 and has struck out 22 with a 1.23 era.

My admiration for Tigers tv color man Hot Rod Allen is well known in these parts... I have found a little dictionary of his favourite expressions: Even though it's a couple years old, I found it still funny.

Is there another tiger pitcher who can get a win?!?

JV dealing tonight; tigers were up early , lost the lead, and retook it. here in the 6th the yankees are still trying to win...they've hit a ton of balls deep but still trail 6-4.
ooops there goes gravity...thank you delmon young for not playing to-day: don kelly runs in on a line drive when he should've gone back and suddenly the lead is just one.
Dotell and, now the crafty lefthander: Phillip Douglas Coke. And he 'gotem on strikes'!
But Benoit gives up the tying run so JV can't get the win now thank you very much. Martin, Jeter, Grandy for the Bombers in the bottom of the ninth all knotted up at 6...a wild pitch...a passed ball. ... bums

Friday, end of April

I think all that warm weather we got last month got us all real antsy for summer. This current spell of highs in the mid fortys and frosty mornings seems to be lasting forever.
To-day we sat in meetings all day and I don't think I was built for sitting in meetings. I need to move around. SO, i excused myself often and for lengthy periods; just like my kids do. I visited friends in other classrooms, just like my kids do. And I stood out in the hallway and talked, just like my kids do. I yawned and looked at the clock (which sometimes seemed to be broken) and worked on my sudoku (level '4', a real bitch) while we were supposed to be discussing things of import and relevance for the future of education in Michigan. And I tried not to get caught doing any of this.

Well the Portagers won the second game of their double header in Traverse to-day; what fun we all had getting smoked and then winning an 8-inning 2-1 game.

Verlander is on the hill for the Tigers tonight; the Detroiters will try to bounce back from 2 Texas-sized ass-woopings in three days. {{I just saw a commercial for Shop-n-Save (-8}}

Landlord is baking some potato wedges and putting together a large sub for dinner. I, it goes without saying, am content.

Peanuts and sunflower seeds

The team gets to play two baseball games to-day at Wuerful Park in Traverse City, where the independent minor league Beach Bums play. Will the temperatures reach a balmy 50? Will the concession stands be open so that I might acquire a bratwurst, the cornerstone of any nutritious breakfast? Will my new Bic Retractable .7 mm pencils be up to the task? Will my uniform be any looser on me by the end of the season?

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth; ...

What does this mean?

I believe that the Creator of the entire universe is a real Person. A person of unlimited knowledge, power, and glory, Who is also our Heavenly Father: the One who we are born from spiritually. I believe that He knows our hearts and wants to be intimate with us. I believe that he loves good and hates what is evil, and He wants us to also. I believe that He wants good for us, just like any earthly father would want good for his children. He loves his children; in fact, God is love.

Shop n Save

If you take highway 31 north of Bear Lake, the first main town you come to is Benzonia. Benzonia is a cute little place, with a Wesco, an oil change place, a couple of second hand stores, a McDonalds, and Shop-N-Save.
Shop-N-Save is a Spartan store... Oh, what is a Spartan store you may be asking.
Well friends, Spartan stores are groceries in Michigan that sell the Spartan brand of products. Average in quality and price, Spartan products are a couple levels below Meijer brand, Kroger brand, and even Wal-Mart's 'Great Value' stuff (or whatever the hell they call their very cheapest food products). But Shop-N-Save is much more than just average prices on Spartan staples; Shop-N-Save is a Ben Franklin hardware, a great place for quality meat, AND a great bakery. They have all manner of bread, snacks, fish, beer, liquor, discounted dented cans sitting in la canasta at the front of the store, spices, paper products, frozen foods, and produce. It's a nice 15 minute drive from my rental here in Bear Lake but i don't go as often as I'd like to because I don't have my truck any more but golly gee, I sure would get up there regularly if I could!
