Took a little trip Saturday morning toward Dexter for some firewood; the photo below is taken from the Mast Rd/ Central Ave bridge over the Huron looking northwest. Many geese were floating in the large calm pool off to the right.

A cozy 32 degrees this morning in southeast Lower Michigan, the likes of which we have not seen in a coon's age. I happened over to the expressway on my way to work - the overpass with its three roundabouts gives a wonderful view of the morning sunrise over Whitmore Lake. I finished my business near the lake and, heading back to US 23 North, stopped in one of the roundabouts to take some pictures. My Google Assistant then collages them (if it understands that is what I want) and presents me with a panoramic photo. I have shared it below. You can make it bigger by clicking on it.

I got to work a little early and discovered I had forgotten my keys. We have a door on Grand River we share with another office, then upstairs our three doors all use another key. I called the boss and told him I'd wait for him. So my day started later than normal; thusly, my morning flew by. All of a sudden it was lunch time, and I high-tailed it to Dollar Tree (where everything's a dollar) for a birthday card (et al).

The Apple Fritter Chorus

On this beautiful cloudy cool morn, I happened to stop at the local baker/meat market (Marv's: http://marvsmeats.com/index.html and http://www.marvsbakery.com/) to purchase rolls for our hamburger dinner tonight. The aromas inside this bakery/meatery are intoxicating, the prices are not as prohibitive as they could be in to-day's bullshit profit-above-all-else society, and you get a free cup of coffee (black, like my coffee) with a bakery purchase. ALSO, they have samples of their wares broken up into bite size pieces on the counter for free tasting.

'Can I get four sesame rolls please?'
'You want four ROLLS or four PACKAGES?
'Four rolls please.' ...
'What else?'
'Can I get one of these down here on the bottom?'
'OK, apple fritter.' ...
'Is that all?'
'Yes thank you.'
'Three oh eight.
Hand her the ever-ready card. ...
'There you go.'
'Thank you.'
'You're welcome, have a good day.'

'Have a good day'?!? How could it not be good starting with the most dense, warm, cinnamon-apple-flavoured carbohydrate-laden, glazed chunk of goodness?!?!? It wasn't even all by itself; I think they make an entire sheet pan of these and then just rip off a hunk the size of the State of Massachusetts, shove it in a wax paper bag, and tell you to have a good day.

And then the free, hot, dark roast coffee, WITH A LID!

Glorious LORD of heaven and earth~
I am thankful this morning for Your
Providence, for all the good gifts You
shower upon us each and every day.
All praise and honor to You - King of kings and LORD of lords!
Blessing and honor, glory, and power
be unto You, be unto YOU!
Hallelujah, hallelujah!

God Himself is Present

https://www.clcgracelutheranchurch.org/hymns/tlh/tlh004.htm

1. God Himself is present:
Let us now adore Him
And with awe appear before Him.
God is in His temple--
All within keep silence,
Prostrate lie with deepest reverence.
Him alone God we own,
Him, our God and Savior;
Praise His name forever.

2. God Himself is present:
Hear the harps resounding;
See the hosts the throne surrounding!
"Holy, holy, holy"--
Hear the hymn ascending,
Songs of saints and angels blending.
Bow Thine ear To us here:
Hear, O Christ, the praises
That Thy Church now raises.

3. O Thou Fount of blessing,
Purify my spirit,
Trusting only in Thy merit.
Like the holy angels,
Who behold Thy glory,
May I ceaselessly adore Thee.
Let Thy will Ever still
Rule Thy Church terrestrial
As the hosts celestial.

1. Lord Jesus Christ, be present now,
Our hearts in true devotion bow,
Thy Spirit send with grace divine,
And let Thy truth within us shine.

2. Unseal our lips to sing Thy praise,
Our souls to Thee in worship raise,
Make strong our faith, increase our light
That we may know Thy name aright;

3. Until we join the hosts that cry,
"Holy art Thou, O Lord, most high!"
And in the light of that blest place
Fore'er behold Thee face to face.

4. Glory to God the Father, Son,
And Holy Spirit, Three in One!
To Thee, O blessed Trinity,
Be praise throughout eternity!

morning prayer

Loving God~
Forgive me when I make loving You and loving my neighbor harder
than it needs to be.
Let me always be mindful of Jesus - how He lived,
how He spoke,
how He embraced,
how He gave -
and give me the grace to live, speak, embrace, and give
like Him.

Praising You always and forever!
