"Why do you leave Jesus on the cross? Don't you know He's risen?"
Well, dearest brother in Christ, like I always say: 'Read your Scriptures.' And not just the passages that support your misguided, reprobate dogma, please!
The Epistle to the Hebrews is a wonderful treatise on salvation history, comparing and contrasting always with the Levitical code. In chapter 7 the inspired author reminds the reader of the relationship Melchizedek, both priest and king, had with Abraham. Chapter 8 then discusses Jesus the Christ, as the fulfillment of prophecy. In Chapter 9 the author sums up our belief in that Jesus as both the Sacrifice and Mediator of the New Covenant. And before he commences to eschatological truths ( verses 23-28), he ends a paragraph with '...and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.'
That's why, protestors. Jesus walking on water, or healing the sleeping daughter or praying in the Garden doesn't forgive our sins. There had to be a Sacrifice - a slain Lamb -Whose blood flowed down the tree during the hours of His execution.
We do not glibly dismiss this Crucifixion.
It means everything.
So take your threats, and your sheriff, and get off my property.
