No breeze in the 2nd floor office I work in, and for the past two days or so, the air conditioning is not working. 9:30 in the morning and it's about 72 with a beautiful breeze outside; in here it's 84 and muggy. I know it could be worse (like if  there was a dumbass fly flying around) so I'm not complaining, just documenting.

Heavenly Father,
Give us the grace to see ourselves as You see us,
help us see others through Your eyes,
and open our hearts to see Your divine touch
in every circumstance.
We love You, too.

Alexa Response of the Day

When prompted with 'how are you?', her matter of fact reply made me laugh:

'Like a kraken out of its cage, I'm feeling wild and free.'

Recipe #12: Good Ground Round Burgers

Last night we made special burgers using ground round from Marv's Meats (http://marvsmeats.com/index.html) along with corn on the cob and pickles from our garden.

I began by forming the meat into a trough on a cookie sheet.

I whisked together garlic, dried garden herbs, and Worcestershire sauce, along with finely diced red onions.

I fried some Marv's bacon (oh this was so good - and on special this week!)

I asked Boomer how impressed he was so far.

I fried up some mushrooms and green pepper in butter and garlic for topping the burgers.

I dumped the onion mixture in the meat boat,

Then I made the pattys.

The corn we did on the stove top

I checked in with Gates and Ian hunting the National Treasure

I sliced our Marv's bakery buns and grilled them.

For serving, I put the mushrooms/peppers on the burgers after they were flipped, then the bacon, then the cheese (cheese always covers a multitude of toppings), then the fresh pickles. We ate them too fast to take a picture.

A real treat, to be sure.

Les Miserables - 10th Anniversary Dream Cast in Concert

PBS has been showing the 25th Anniversary Concert lately - I prefer the 10th Anniversary version about 1000 times better.

But of course he now denies it, you'd expect that of a con.
But he couldn't run forever; no, not even Jean Valjean.

dumbass protesting questions

Here's what really gets me going...

You ask why Catholics do such and such or believe such and such, and then bring up one or two verses from Sacred Scripture (most of the time taken out of context) to support your protesting doctrine.

Such and such has been done and believed by the Church since the time of Christ ffs! It was done and believed by the followers of Christ, and by the disciples of the followers of Christ, and by their children and by their congregations, and by those who ate the Lord's Supper with the followers of Christ, and by those who willingly GAVE UP THEIR LIVES for the faith, by those who were tortured and made to suffer UN-imaginable sorrows for the faith!!!

And you want to come with one or two Bible verses, trying to contradict a belief or custom of the Church that Christ founded?!??! Give me a !@#$% break.

You want your own rules, you don't want authority over you. That's why there are THOUSANDS of protesting denominations. Silly ass person.

You tell me why you are protesting.

WHAT AUTHORITY DO YOU HAVE TO PROTEST AND REVOLT?!?

The answer is 'none'. None but your own. Run your own ship, go right ahead.

Friday

Praising God, because He is worthy!

We were blessed with another beautiful summer morning here in southeast Lower Michigan, comfortable temperatures with gorgeous sunshine, and a slight breeze, aaaaahhhhhhhhhhh.

It will soon be autumn, and football season, and baseball playoffs, with cooler temps, and longer shadows, and fewer bugs, and less conditioned air, and the beginning of 'the holidays'.

Our trip to Silver Lake next month is still a - go, and we are both eagerly anticipating the vacation.

My devotional this morning asked me what I would do if I had a hundred sheep and lost one.

I began to think about one percent, one penny, one dollar, then a hundred dollars; but dollars are different than sheep.

If I had 100 sheep (or dogs, or lizards, or birds), the loss of even one (one percent) would be troubling. I think I would worry about its care, its safety, its health - and then search for it.

But that's not like dollars. If I only had one hundred pennies, and lost one, I would need to rethink my vocation and begin earning more. All the best to the person who found my penny, and all the more best to those too rich to even bend down to pick it up.

If I only had one hundred dollars, and lost one, I may just think it was meant to be and be at peace that our Lord let it be so that someone needier might have that dollar.

But sheep I would know by name, would I not? Would I not be responsible for their welfare?  How could I not go out and try to find the lost one?!?

Dear Lord~
Let me always be the one
who seeks the lost.
By Your grace never let me avoid my responsibility,
even when I want to.
Strengthen me with Your good Spirit,
and remind me if You see me leaning toward negligence
of loving You
or loving my brother.
All praise and glory to You,
eternal Father!
